The Norwegian singer, musician and composer Live Foyn Friis has had an explosive career on the international jazz scene. She has a strong attachment to Denmark, where she has lived and studied at the Royal Academy of Music. On the new album, she rearranged a selection of her songs for orchestra and recorded live with the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra.
“Theres not a second of doubt that you’re listening to a singer-songwriter of God’s grace.” (GAFFA).
On the new album Lives delicate and authentic soundscape meets the big band tradition and creates a new universe. The music is popped, jazzy, nordic and feminine. Her compositions form the basis for improvisation and communication.

Foyn Friis’ discography has gown from a trio format on her first album: ‘Joy Visible’, to quartet format on ‘Running Heart’, to octet on ‘With Strings’. And on the last album she has a 25 musicians’ orchestra! All her releases have been nominated for music awards, and she was won The New Jazz Star and The Young Jazz Composer (2012).
Together with her quartet, she has toured in Europe and played sold-out concerts.
‘With Aarhus Jazz Orchestra’, is recorded in Musikhuset in Aarhus the summer of 2015.
Her project with Jazz Orchestra started when she performed with The Danish Radio Big Band in 2012, and since then she has toured and played with different big bands and jazz orchestras, from Russia to South America. The repertoire has had an exciting development. On the album there are some arrangements by Jesper Riis, Christian Balvig, and Foyn Friis herself. And all music and lyrics composed by Foyn Friis. And also some songs with only quartet, trio and strings.
“One can only say that it is very encouraging that our small country offers opportunities for development for an artist on this level and the music of this casting. Live Foyn Friis has real X-factor ”
